#tanahairku

On 27th January 2016 (Wednesday) was our first field trip for the subject, Malaysian Media and Culture. We went to a Petronas art exhibition titled #tanahairku located at Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur. We departed from UTAR Sungai Long at around 10.20am and used around 1 hour for the journey to reach KLCC. We stuck in traffic jam during the journey and I saw a beautiful scenery of our main city, Kuala Lumpur, then I automatically took out my phone and snap a photo of it.

When I saw the scenery, I straight away thought of 'Tanah Air Ku' which means my country. This scenery is special for me, because it has a construction site placed below the level of the city in the picture which makes it looked like the country is being built up.

When we arrived Suria KLCC, Dr Carmen met with us at the entrance and led us to the exhibition. The exhibition is all about what Petronas made for us, Malaysian in the past two decades (1996 - 2016). The title #tanahairku is an accurate and appropriate for the exhibition because all the artworks inside of it are having the taste of Malaysia. Why do I say taste of Malaysia? Because all the artworks present the culture of Malaysia. Malaysia is the first thing that came to my mind when I entered the exhibition. One of the sections at the entrance, there were showing an old bicycle which was a common transport of Malaysian in the past, and a well with a mug that we use for bathing that is made by milo tin, with 'Sometimes we forget how it all started'. This makes me think of how was our old generation united together to fight for the independency Malaysia.

Section 3 is the section that I liked the most. The 'Man Gyver' where a wooden made toy car with other plastic made and modern toy cars. There is a wall was written with 'Remember the days our dreams could be drawn?'. This means a lot to me because when we were kids, we had many a clear image of our dreams that we want to achieve when we are older. We all used to draw it out but when we get older and older, we seem to get blurry of our future and sometime get lost.

One of the dreams of others and I believe some of us are surely have the same dream when we were kids.

Another dreams from the others that I think is the most common dream of us.

We forgot our passion for our life and turn it to living, that is why we forgot our dreams. I am thankful that I am still clear about my dreams and I know the way to achieve it. I wish everyone to have their dreams because life without dreams is colourless and wish everyone dreams come true. :)
